Vision

Hunter and Amy Huffman launch their hospitality group with the opening of Mesquite at the Warehouse, within historic building of Woerner Warehouse. A modern, upscale southern dining concept that features a large emphasis on fresh salads and gourmet sandwiches. Along with the delectable slow roasted meats and locally grown produce to house made sweets and bread, Mesquite at the Warehouse tries to embody excellence around all aspects of hospitality and central Texas community.

Mesquite at the Warehouse was inspired by the historic building and community that is within Fredericksburg. The original local feed store was an original gathering place over 73 years ago for ranchers to purchase supplies and have conversations about their industry and life.

Today Mesquite is focused on a different kind of feed store. We want to feed the community from the bounty that the past ranchers and farmers produced and create an environment in which all people can come and be nourished with food as well as have conversations with others about industry or life.

Philosophy

Philosophy
In the end, a great meal is not about the food and wine. A great meal is an emotional experience. We try to make it an extraordinary one by establishing a beautiful place, one filled with a staff that cares about it as they do about their home, where we treat one guest at a time. It's with this approach that we care for you, and you become the central focus of your experience.

Our chefs are meticulous about culinary details, fundamental techniques and a kitchen that delivers the best products from the earth to your table. No detail or element can be less important or more important than another. A great meal is not one that just fills you up. A great meal is a journey that returns you to sources of pleasure you may have forgotten and takes you to places you haven’t been before.

Hunter Huffman

Hunter Huffman
Hunter Huffman was born just outside of Austin and raised there for the early years of his childhood. After moving to Colorado Springs to to finish junior high and high school, he moved away to travel the world through school, sports, and start his career that he was destined for. Having grown up in a family where travel and food were paramount, it is not surprising that he was attracted to an industry where he has been a consumer all his life.

Hunter was in the kitchen making pasta by age 9, and trying to locate lamb's tongue for a salad by junior high. Through traveling the world and working in some of the best kitchens in San Fransisco, Denver, London, and Germany as well as running restaurant groups in Denver and Colorado Springs, Hunter and his wife, Amy, decided to fulfill their dream of opening their own restaurant and hospitality group back to Hunter's roots.

They want to raise their 3 boys in an environment where community is key and the boys have the opportunity to grow up working with such a delightful community in a rising culinary town.
